Baghdad International Book Fair hosts 635 publishing houses

With the participation of 635 local, Arab and foreign publishing houses from 23 countries, including Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Oman, Tunisia, Algeria, India and Britain, the 24th edition of the Baghdad International Book Fair was launched in the Iraqi capital on Thursday, February 7, 2019. The organizers dedicated this year’s edition to the spirit of writer and novelist Alaa Mashzoub, who was recently assassinated near his home in Karbala by unidentified gunmen.

The Fair will see the participation of the Lebanese Arab journalist George Qardahi; the Kuwaiti novelist Buthaina Al-Issa; the Palestinian writer and poet Ibrahim Nasrallah; the Jordanian novelist Ayman al-Atoum; the Algerian researcher Ismail Mahnaneh; the Iraq novelist Ahmad Saadawi; the poet Sinan Antoun; the novelist Louay Hamza Abbas; the wirter Nizar Abdul Sattar; and the writer Faten Sarraf.
