by | May 18, 2026 | News

The Doha International Book Fair, whose 35th edition continues through May 23, 2026, is witnessing a remarkable cultural presence that reinforces its standing as one of the region’s leading book fairs, amid record-breaking participation marking the largest edition in its history. This year’s fair brings together more than 520 publishing houses from 37 countries across over 910 pavilions, reflecting the growing momentum of the Arab and international publishing industries while reaffirming the fair’s role as a vibrant platform for culture, knowledge and intellectual exchange.

The current edition features a comprehensive cultural and knowledge-driven programme that includes intellectual seminars, panel discussions, workshops and literary events, alongside the launch of hundreds of new publications spanning diverse fields of knowledge. The fair welcomes visitors with more than 1.85 million books representing over 231,000 titles, while its halls host direct encounters with writers, thinkers and academics from within Qatar and abroad, creating a dynamic cultural atmosphere that promotes reading and offers audiences an open space to engage with the latest publications and contemporary intellectual trends.

Special attention is being given to children and young readers through interactive programmes and innovative educational experiences designed to nurture a culture of reading from an early age. Cultural institutions and national libraries are also participating through dedicated pavilions that employ advanced digital technologies and artificial intelligence to deliver modern knowledge experiences tailored to different age groups and interests. Among the highlights are activities that blend technology with creativity, alongside initiatives encouraging children to interact with stories and books in imaginative ways that deepen their connection to knowledge and inspire their imagination.

The latest edition of the Doha International Book Fair reflects the continuity of Qatar’s cultural movement and its ability to combine civilisational depth with intellectual openness in an annual event that attracts publishers and cultural institutions from around the world. Since its inaugural edition in 1972, the fair has successfully established itself as an international cultural gathering that celebrates books as a gateway to knowledge, a tool for raising awareness and a bridge for communication between cultures and peoples.
