Cairo International Book Fair Hosts 1724 Publishing Houses

The Cairo International Book Fair (Golden Jubilee) kicked off on Wednesday, January 23, with the participation of 1274 publishers from 35 countries, including 16 from Asia, 10 from Africa, 7 from Europe and 2 from Americas. The Fair, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, hosts publishers from Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana for the first time.

This year’s edition sees the largest participation of the Egyptian publishing houses, with the participation of 579 publishers, of which 62 publishing houses participating for the first time. As the Arab League becomes the guest of honor for this edition, the Egyptian General Book Authority has chosen the late Dr. Tharwat Okasha and writer Suheir Al-Kalmawi as the Figure of the Year.

The Fair, which will be held at the Egyptian International Exhibition Center at the Fifth Settlement, will see many events on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee, including a large pavilion for the sale of discounted titles at prices ranging from LE 1 to LE 10 and deductions up to 50% for people with special needs.
