PublisHer Makes its First Appearance at New Delhi World Book Fair

by | Feb 5, 2025 | News

The New Delhi World Book Fair 2025 started on February 1 and will end on February 9 at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Center in the capital city of India. This event is one of the largest and brings together hundreds of publishers, writers, and readers worldwide.

This year, there are more than 1,030 publishers from over 40 nations attending with expected average daily visitors of 18,000. Such significant attendance underlines the fair’s importance as a major exhibition in the international trade and publishing industry.

Within the framework of the cultural program, panel discussions, literary seminars, specialized workshops, and author specific programs are covered. Additionally, the Rights Exchange Forum gives publishers a space to conduct translation rights deals and new business collaborations.

As part of its participation in the Sharjah Book Authority’s pavilion, the gender focused initiative ‘PublisHer’ held a panel “The Rise of Female Publishing Entrepreneurs in India: Overcoming Challenges and Celebrating Triumphs” in which Indian presenters shared their take on the recently published book.

The panel was moderated by Arpita Das – the founder of Yoda Press. The participants included Richa Jha the founder of Pickle Yolk Books, and Trisha De Niyogi the CEO of Niyogi Books. The discussion explored the personal journeys of these industry leaders, the obstacles they have faced, and the importance of fostering more initiatives that recognize and empower women in publishing. Throughout the fair, PublisHer engaged with female professionals to promote its mission and explore new avenues for collaboration, ensuring that women continue to play a vital role in shaping the publishing landscape.
