Charlie Redmayne Joins Vinci Books

by | May 2, 2026 | News

Former HarperCollins UK CEO Charlie Redmayne has joined newcomer Vinci Books as CEO and has also bought a stake in the new independent publisher.

Vinci Books was founded by entrepreneur Mark Smith in 2024, and describes itself as a publishing and publishing technology company that aims to “offer authors the best of independent and traditional publishing”. Since its launch, Vinci Books has published more than 2,000 titles and developed technology tools for publishers.

Vinci said Redmayne’s appointment “marks a significant moment in Vinci Books’ development” as it “accelerates both its publishing programme and its technology ambitions”. Vinci Books operates internationally with a presence in the UK, US, Europe, Australia and South Africa.

Redmayne, who prior to HarperCollins UK served as founding CEO of Pottermore, said: “Throughout my career I have looked to embrace technology and digital change to create vanguard businesses. Vinci Books is doing precisely that. I really look forward to this opportunity to lead this excellent team into their next exciting phase of growth – and to delivering for our authors and our customers.”

Smith said: “Charlie brings a rare combination of operational excellence, strategic vision and entrepreneurial instinct, which is exactly what Vinci needs as we scale. I founded this company to build something genuinely new, combining great publishing with world-class technology, and Charlie is the ideal person to lead us into the future.”
