UAE Expo Office Unveils ‘Dreamers: Imagining the Future’

by | Sep 12, 2024 | News

The UAE Expo Office has proudly launched its second children’s book, Dreamers: Imagining the Future, inviting young readers on an inspiring journey through the stories of six real-life UAE “Dreamers”—visionaries whose groundbreaking innovations are shaping a sustainable future.

The book’s launch will accompany a series of educational programs for children aged six and above, running from September to November 2024 in libraries and learning spaces across the Emirates.

These workshops, inspired by the stories in Dreamers: Imagining the Future, will include interactive sessions aimed at fostering environmental awareness. In collaboration with the Early Starters organization, the program will give young readers a hands-on opportunity to explore the ideas and innovations presented in the book, showcasing the changemakers who are actively working to secure a better future.

Through vibrant illustrations and an engaging narrative, Dreamers: Imagining the Future tells the story of each Dreamer, highlighting their connection to the environment and their shared optimism for a sustainable future. The stories aim to spark curiosity in young readers, promoting an appreciation for environmental responsibility and sustainable innovation. This second edition features six extraordinary Dreamers:

Dr. Saeed Al Hassan, Co-Founder of Manhat, who captures freshwater from evaporated water on open surfaces to irrigate floating farms.

Dr. Haythem Riahi, Co-Founder of Circa Biotech, who combats organic waste by using Black soldier flies to produce high-quality animal feed protein.

Jane Glavan, Founder of Distant Imagery, who employs cutting-edge drone technology to plant over 2.5 million mangrove seeds across the UAE.

AlMaha Al Muhairi, Founder of Mahaya’s, who promotes food security through accessible planting solutions for the public.

Lamis Al Hashimy, Co-Founder of Palmade, who reduces waste by designing and manufacturing eco-friendly products from date palm biomass.

Maryam Hassani, Chief Innovation Officer at Hydrowind Energy, who develops simple, efficient devices to enhance access to clean water and energy.

Aimed at children aged six to nine, the bilingual book is available in both English and Arabic, and includes an interactive section encouraging readers to imagine themselves as future innovators and explore how they can contribute to the natural world.

Written by cultural consultant Maryam Al Dabbagh and beautifully illustrated by Emirati artist Aysha Al Hamrani (Mnawra), the book is printed on fully recycled paper in the UAE.
