Exclusive Alice Oseman pop-up to open in London

by | Jun 10, 2024 | News

Harper Fire is to open an Alice Oseman pop-up shop in Shoreditch, east London.  It has partnered with all Oseman’s UK publishers to offer what it calls ‘The Alice Oseman Pop-Up: Enter The Osemanverse, an exclusive fan experience’.

The publisher says: “Located at immersive Shoreditch venue 133 Bethnal Green Road, The Alice Oseman Pop-Up is an exclusive and interactive celebration of Alice’s entire collection of work from Solitaire and Nick and Charlie to Loveless and Heartstopper.

Along with a few surprises, fans will be able to immerse themselves in the Osemanverse with an art station, and photo area, as well as get their hands on exclusive goodies. Readers will also be able submit their own Alice Oseman inspired artwork, in advance of the pop up, to appear on a fan art wall – full details of how to submit can be found on the Harper Fire website and socials.

“As part of a wider brand partnership, MooBoo will be on-site with complimentary Nick and Charlie themed bubble tea, and Waterstones Gower Street will run an on-site bookshop with exclusive early copies of the upcoming This Winter re-issue, which Harper Fire is making available 2 months prior to publication. Harper Fire has recently reissued Alice’s entire backlist collection with brand-new covers illustrated by Alice herself alongside additional, exclusive content to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Solitaire.

The Alice Oseman Pop-Up will be open on a first-come first-served basis between 10 AM – 5 PM on Friday 5 July – Saturday 6 July, and 11 AM – 4 PM on Sunday 7 July.

Oseman said: : ‘I’m so thrilled about the upcoming Alice Oseman Pop-Up. With exclusive goodies, books, an art station, photo area, and much more, it’s going to be a one-of-a-kind event for my readers, and I couldn’t be more excited.’

Harper Fire Editorial Director Tom Bonnick said: “We are incredibly proud to have been the home of Alice’s extraordinary, beloved YA fiction for ten years now – a milestone recently celebrated with a stunning 10th anniversary hardback edition of Alice’s groundbreaking debut, SOLITAIRE. We have incredibly exciting plans and some big surprises in store for 2024, 2025 and beyond to celebrate her writing. This pop-up will be an unmissable event for all fans, old and new, to rejoice in Alice’s work and enter the Osemanverse!’”

Such pop-up shops are part of physical booksellers’ fight back in an online world.  In recent years Faber held a similar pop-up shop for Sally Rooney.
