UAE’s Kuttab Publishing has signed a cooperation agreement with the China Publishing Group to publish two unique collections of master lectures on Chinese history and civilization.  The two titles are Eight Lectures on Chinese History of Xinya College and Civilization in the Spotlight. Both books will be published in Arabic for the first time.

The agreement was signed at this week’s Beijing International Book Fair (14-18 September).  The titles are published in Chinese by SDX Joint Publishing, an imprint of China Publishing Group which is China’s largest and most influential trade and professional publishing group

At the fair the launch event was hosted by Yin Tao, the editor-in-chief of SDX Joint Publishing.  Chinese Arabic scholar Professor Zhang Hong, Professor of the Department of Arabic Language at Beijing Foreign Studies University, gave the audience a vivid introduction to Arabic culture with a comparison to Chinese culture.  Jamal Alshehhi, founder and general manager of Kuttab Publishing House attended the event via live-streamed video.

Mao Yuansheng, Vice President of China Publishing Group, said:

“Huge congratulations to the collaboration between SXD Joint Publishing and Kuttab Publishing House. I believe the ground-breaking publications will lead to more academic research collaborations and cultural exchanges between China and the UAE, to help Arabic audiences discover ancient Chinese history.”

Jamal Al Shehhi, founder and general manager of Kuttab Publishing House commented: “SDX Joint Publishing has a rich history and cultural heritage, and has published many distinguished works on Chinese culture, history and archaeology. Kuttab Publishing is honoured to be able to publish these books in Arabic, and introduce Chinese history and culture to readers in the UAE and Arab countries.”
