The Hachette UK leadership board has consulted with external consultants and created a working group to follow up concerns flagged in The Bookseller’s bullying investigation.
Its chief people officer Lisa Waterman said: “Four weeks ago, we promised to address The Bookseller article directly and to outline the clear, concrete steps we are taking to rebuild trust, strengthen our culture and ensure every employee feels safe, respected and supported.
“During that time, the Hachette UK Leadership board has met, established and convened a working group, and sought advice from external consultants and experts. In the meantime, our leaders and HR team have been meeting with individual staff, employee network co-chairs and leadership teams to listen and learn about a broad range of experiences.
“Over the coming weeks we will share some of the ideas for improvements and then roll out actions focused on accountability, open communication and strengthening process.
“We care deeply about listening and learning from our colleagues and are fully committed to making these changes meaningful and long-lasting. Thank you for your support as we move forward together.”
