The 32nd edition of the Beijing International Book Fair will take place from 17 to 21 June 2026, bringing together more than 1,700 exhibitors from 82 countries and regions. This year, the United Arab Emirates will participate as Guest of Honour at the fair, which is also marking the 40th anniversary of its founding. Recognised as Asia’s leading publishing event and one of the world’s most influential book fairs, BIBF serves as a global meeting point for publishers, authors, content creators and industry leaders exploring the evolving landscape of cultural and creative industries.
The UAE’s participation is centred around the “Emirati House”, a comprehensive cultural platform bringing together 29 government, cultural, academic and creative institutions. Through more than 20 cultural and professional events, the pavilion will showcase the country’s achievements in publishing, translation and cultural content creation, while highlighting UAE–China cultural relations, children’s literature, travel writing, digital publishing, artificial intelligence and creativity. The programme reflects the UAE’s growing role as a hub for cultural dialogue and knowledge exchange.
This year’s edition places particular emphasis on the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on publishing. The fair will debut its first dedicated IP Licensing Zone, expand its animation, comics and gaming platform, and introduce a new digital publishing pavilion showcasing AI-powered tools for content creation and publishing workflows. Conferences and industry forums will also explore the role of emerging technologies in publishing, education and intellectual property management.
Beyond its role as a professional and cultural marketplace, the fair offers a window into the rapid transformation of the global book industry, where digital platforms and social media are increasingly shaping reading habits and book discovery. For the UAE, participation in Beijing provides an important opportunity to strengthen its cultural presence in Asia, deepen partnerships with Chinese and international publishers, and reinforce the role of culture as a bridge for dialogue, understanding and cooperation among peoples.
