Turjuman Opens Submissions for Its New Edition

by | Jul 23, 2026 | News

The Sharjah Book Authority has announced the opening of submissions for the latest edition of the Sharjah Translation Award “Turjuman”, further strengthening its position as one of the world’s leading awards dedicated to translating Arabic literature into other languages. The award reflects the Authority’s ongoing commitment to expanding the global reach of Arab culture and promoting translation as a powerful vehicle for dialogue, cultural exchange, and the sharing of knowledge across nations.

With a total prize value of AED 1.4 million, the award is presented annually to the publisher of the best foreign-language translation of a distinguished Arabic work, recognising the vital role of publishers and translators in bringing Arab creativity to international audiences, broadening its readership, and enhancing its presence within the global literary landscape.

Submissions will remain open until 15 September 2026, inviting publishers and translators from around the world to compete with works that foster cross-cultural understanding, showcase the richness of Arab literary and intellectual production, and reinforce translation’s role in building mutual understanding and bringing cultures closer together.

Through Turjuman, the Sharjah Book Authority continues to champion translation as a strategic investment in the dissemination of knowledge and creativity, the promotion of intercultural dialogue, and the advancement of the global publishing industry. The award also encourages initiatives that create new opportunities for Arabic literature to reach readers in their native languages.

The Authority invites interested publishers and translators to review the award’s eligibility criteria and complete their submissions before the deadline through the Sharjah International Book Fair website, reaffirming its commitment to supporting high-quality translation projects that enrich world literature with outstanding works from the Arab world.
