Renowned Egyptian Personalities Support the ‘1,000 Writers’ Initiative

by | Jan 4, 2018 | News

The Media Committee of ‘1,000 Writers’ in Egypt has named the initiative’s first 100 supporters and participants, which feature renowned political, media, judicial, economic, public, academic and entrepreneurial personalities.

The initiative aims to provide 1,000 writers with legal support over five years, raise awareness about their rights and responsibilities and facilitate communication with publishing houses to produce their titles. It also seeks to promote and market their books through cinema, theatre and drama, as well as organise seminars and discussion panels about their books.

The initiative will select the best 100 writers from Egypt and the rest of the Arab world every six months. It will also hold a press conference to announce more details on the side-lines of the Cairo International Book Fair in February 2018.
