Dar Al Tanweer Wins Sheikh Zayed Book Award 2018

Dar Al Tanweer, a Lebanese publishing house, has won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award in the Publishing and Technology’ category in recognition of its role in promoting Arab culture and communicating it to recipients, while maintaining the intellectual property rights of authors and translators, and abiding by the highest standards of publishing.

The Literature’ Award went to Syrian novelist Khalil Sweileh for his Novel ‘Ikhtibar Al-Nadam’ (Remorse Test)  in the novel category, while Emirati author Hessa Khalifa Al Muhairi was named the winner of ‘Children’s Literature’ Award for her story, ‘’The Dinoraf’.

In the Young Author’ category, Egyptian writer Ahmed Al Qarmalawi won the title for his novel ‘Amtar Sayfiyyah’ (Summer Rains), while Tunisian translator Naji Elounelli won the ‘Translation Award for the book ‘Ästhetische Theorie’, from German to Arabic.

The ‘Literary and Art Criticism’ Award went to Moroccan academic Mohammed Mishbal for his work, ‘The Rhetoric of Al Hajjaj: Towards a Rhetoric Inspired by Al Hajjaj in Analysing Discourse’.

German Researcher Dag Nikolaus Hasse won the Arab Culture in Other Languages’ Award for his work ‘Success and Suppression: Arabic Sciences and Philosophy in the Renaissance’.
