Critics Slam Ivanka Trump’s Book for Working Women

by | May 10, 2017 | News

US President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, has recently released her new book Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success published by US-based Penguin Random House. This is her second release after The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life, published in 2009 by Touchstone.

According to the US President’s older daughter, the aim of her book is to change the image of women at work, and offers advice on how to have a successful career and deal with work pressure to achieve a work-life balance.

Immediately after hitting the market, the book has received a barrage of criticism from women’s rights organisations, numerous literary critics and editors. Terry O’Neill, President of Washington-based National Organisation for Women dismissed Ivanka’s advocacy effort as “a gimmick to enrich her family’s sprawling Business Empire”.
Chris Taylor, Editor at Mashable.com echoed the criticism, saying that the book is padded with bromides and widely-known examples. It is full of quotes, or paraphrasing from other people, self-promotion and glorification.
