The fifth edition of Istanbul International Book Fair is underway in the Turkish capital. It began on Saturday, March 10, and is witnessing the participation of 450 publishers, including 100 from the Arab region, representing 15 countries.

Running until March 18, the fair is organised by the Turkish Publishers Association and Arab Publishers Platform in Turkey, in collaboration with the Turkish Ministry of Culture and the Arab Publishers Association.

Themed “Read’, the nine-day book fair extends across an area of 8,000 sqmt, 25 percent of which is designated exclusively for Arab publishers. The fair features 70 events that will showcase an elite group of Arab intellectuals and prominent figures at seminars, lectures, literary, poetry and cultural evenings, in addition to book signings.

For the first time, the Fair Management provides 60 translators in Arabic and Turkish who will be available throughout the opening hours to assist Arab publishers, intellectuals and visitors. The organisers have also designed an exclusive space for children and young adults, and offers educational platforms and interactive experiences for the general public.
