SFD Discusses Your Psychological Complexes… Your Eternal Prison

As part of its efforts to promote a culture of reading and intellectual engagement in the workplace, the Sharjah Finance Department (SFD) has launched the first session of the “Reading Majlis” initiative for 2025.

The session took place at the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, with the participation of employees and majlis members, reaffirming the importance of knowledge in human capital development and fostering a more interactive and creative work environment.

The inaugural session featured an in-depth intellectual discussion on “Your Psychological Complexes… Your Eternal Prison” by author and thinker Yousef Al Hasany, a physician who adopts an analytical approach to exploring human psychological challenges. His methodology, known as “realistic psycho-medical analysis,” is based on research in cognitive-behavioural and analytical therapy, providing deeper insights into psychological patterns and their impact on human behaviour.

Participants examined key ideas from the book, particularly the profound psychological influences on human behaviour, ways to break free from limiting beliefs, and methods for achieving mental and intellectual balance. The session provided an opportunity for members to exchange perspectives on how these concepts can be applied to self-development and contribute to a more positive and productive work environment.

Huda Al Yasi, Director of the Financial System Department and Secretary-General of the Reading Majlis at the Sharjah Finance Department, emphasised that the initiative reflects the department’s commitment to making knowledge a core part of its institutional culture. She stated, “The Reading Majlis is not merely a cultural activity but a strategic initiative aimed at developing critical thinking and analytical skills among employees, ultimately enhancing their professional performance. We believe that reading is a powerful tool for broadening perspectives, inspiring creativity, and fostering a dynamic work environment through idea-sharing and knowledge exchange.”

She added, “During this session, we explored a book that delves into deep psychological themes affecting our personal and professional lives. This led to a rich and engaging discussion among employees, reinforcing the importance of self-development and overcoming internal barriers that may hinder progress.”

The “Reading Majlis” sessions will continue throughout the year, covering a diverse range of books in management, personal development, critical thinking, technology, and innovation. This initiative will provide participants with opportunities to expand their knowledge and skills through workshops and discussion panels, ensuring practical benefits from the selected books.
