Philippine Book Festival Returns Bigger on April 25

by | Apr 4, 2024 | News

Mark your calendars because the 2nd Philippine Book Festival (PBF) is back, and it’s bigger than ever! From April 25 to 28, book enthusiasts can flock to the World Trade Center in Manila for a literary extravaganza featuring over 160 exhibitors. This event, organized by the National Book Development Board (NBDB), promises to bring together publishers, authors, artists, educators, and readers from across the country.

After a successful inaugural edition last year, the PBF aims to surpass expectations with a diverse range of activities tailored for families, friends, and children. Charisse Aquino-Tugade, the executive director of NBDB, expressed her excitement, highlighting the abundance of events and the fact that admission is entirely free. She encouraged everyone to dive into the experience, emphasizing that it’s not just a book fair but a holistic immersion in the world of literature.

Attendees can look forward to engaging with acclaimed authors during meet-and-greet sessions and book signings. Among the luminaries gracing the event are Gwy Saludes, historian Ambeth Ocampo, and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee. Their presence adds a special allure to an already exciting lineup of activities.

Beyond fostering a love for reading, the NBDB has a larger mission: to enhance access to quality Philippine books and support the local publishing industry. By bringing together stakeholders and generating revenue for professionals in the field, the PBF plays a crucial role in advancing the country’s literary landscape.

As anticipation builds for this literary celebration, organizers are gearing up to provide an unforgettable experience for attendees of all ages. With its blend of entertainment, education, and exploration, the Philippine Book Festival promises to ignite a passion for literature and culture that will endure long after its curtains close.
