HarperCollins Welcomes Barrington Stoke

HarperCollins UK CEO Charlie Redmayne revealed that he was diagnosed as dyslexic at the age of six in his speech at the publisher’s summer author party at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum on Wednesday (5 July).  “So I know how hard it can be to acquire the confidence to read, and it’s why I am proud to welcome our colleagues from Barrington Stoke here tonight.”

Barrington Stoke is the dyslexic-friendly children’s publisher based in Edinburgh which HarperCollins bought in April this year.  Redmayne said he was delighted to welcome the house to the HarperCollins family.

Guests at the party included the novelist Jeffrey Archer, Percy the Park-keeper creator Nick Butterworth, comedian David Baddiel and the co-founder of pop band Spandau Ballet Martin Kemp.

Redmayne concluded: “It is an uncertain world out there, we have the cost of living crisis, we have strikes, we have an ever-changing political landscape. I know at HarperCollins we have a reputation for publishing prime ministerial memoirs but with three PMs in office since this time last year I’m afraid even we may struggle to keep up. But in times of uncertainty we turn to those that we trust. And I am incredibly grateful that you continue to put your faith in HarperCollins. We don’t take that responsibility lightly and please know that you have the best team in the business behind you and they’re giving it everything.”
