IPA Study: World Book Publishing Industry Valued at USD 151 Billion

A study carried out by the International Publishers Association (IPA) and published by Emirati Newspaper Al Bayan, claims that the global book industry is valued at USD 151 billion, compared to the film and entertainment sector, which is worth approximately USD 133 billion. The results also indicate that the book market in the Arab world is worth USD 1 billion each year.

The USA topped the international table in terms of the overall value of the book publishing market with 26%, followed by China with 12% and Germany with 8%. Japan ranked fourth with 7%, followed by France with 4%. The UK was ranked seventh with 3%.

As far as media and entertainment content is concerned, the magazine sector ranked third after publishing and films, and was valued at USD 107 billion. It was followed by video games at USD 63 billion, and music at USD 50 billion.
