Sharjah Ruler directs restoring 8 rare Arabic books in El Escorial

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, directed the restoration of eight rare Arabic books in Spain’s “El Escorial” Library.

The restoration books included: “Al Ajurumiya” by Ibn Ajurum, three Archaic Qur’ans from the years 1257, 1402, and 1397, “The Concise History of Humanity” by Abu Al Fida, the book “Al-Milal wa al-Nihal”, “Kitab al-Aghani” by Abu Al Faraj Al Isfahani, and “Kharidat al-Ajaib wa Faridat al-Gharaib”.

Sharjah now records the first global contribution to preserving ancient texts at the El Escorial’s collections, which His Highness visited in 2019 and agreed on fruitful cooperation between Sharjah and the library, including restoring rare Arabic books.
