The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) concluded its participation in the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (BCBF) 2024, marking its commitment to fostering the publishing sector, libraries, and creative industries.

With a delegation comprising key cultural entities affiliated with SBA, including Al Qasimi Publications, the Department of Culture, Arab Children’s Book Publisher Forum, the Etisalat Award for Arabic Children’s Literature, and the Turjuman Award, along with the Sharjah Literary Agency, the event served as a platform for showcasing projects, initiatives, and visions.

The participation in global events like BCBF aligned with Sharjah’s vision, led by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. It aimed to create opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and partnership building between Emirati talents and international counterparts in the children’s book industry. By highlighting the importance of books and culture in the UAE’s development, the Sharjah delegation fostered cultural cooperation between Sharjah and cities worldwide.

SBA’s own events, such as the Sharjah International Book Fair, Publishers Conference, Sharjah Children’s Book Fair, Sharjah Booksellers Conference, and the Children’s Animation Conference, offered unique opportunities for industry players. These events significantly contributed to strengthening the publishing sector and facilitating translation activities across diverse cultures, furthering Sharjah’s reputation as a hub for literary and cultural exchange.
