The University of Khorfakkan (UKF) Library has undergone a major transformation, with the Sharjah Public Works Department (SPWD) expanding the library’s capacity from 100 to 230 students.
Eng. Abdullah Al Tunaiji, Director of the Branches Department at SPWD, explained that the project made efficient use of available space, allowing for the creation of additional study areas and modern facilities to enhance the student experience.
According to Al Tunaiji, this expansion is part of a broader initiative to improve the educational infrastructure at UKF and to provide a more welcoming and supportive academic environment.
Where the library previously held 100 students, it can now accommodate over 230, thanks to its newly optimized layout within the existing 1,900 square meters. The redesign introduces three reading areas, dedicated sections for bookshelves, two electronic libraries, and several discussion rooms, including spaces for group work and debates.
The renovation also provides separate study rooms for male and female students, a seating area, a café, and administrative offices, all aimed at fostering a comprehensive academic setting that meets the students’ diverse study and research needs.
