by | Feb 29, 2024 | News

The Vilnius Book Fair recently concluded its literature extravaganza at LITEXPO from February 22 to 25 In Lithuania. This grand Baltic festival, known for its diverse program, showcased a special focus on educating young readers.

The Hall of Young Readers, a perennial highlight, collaborated with institutions like the Vilnius Academy of Arts, the Society of Lithuanian Librarians, and others to curate a rich program. Aistė Žukauskaitė, the fair’s cultural program curator, emphasized the significance of nurturing a love for literature among young minds.

The Hall of Young Readers featured a spectrum of events and workshops, including the new Creative Laboratory. Curated by the Vilnius Academy of Arts, this space immersed attendees in the artistry of books, hosting sessions with illustrators from Montenegro and Estonia.

The fair maintained its commitment to inclusivity, with events adapted for persons with disabilities. The Lithuanian Audiosensory Library introduced an interactive installation showcasing reading experiences, including voice synthesis and insights into descriptions for the visually impaired.

Beyond these, the Hall of Young Readers hosted activities ranging from mythology exploration to canvas bag making. The fair itself presented the best of recent literary works by Lithuanian and foreign authors, allowing publishers and professionals to immerse themselves in the literary landscape.
