China’s Tibetan Research Center in Beijing has launched the world’s first database for literary works in the Tibetan language. The move aims to promote the development of Tibetan culture and endorse publishing and translating Tibetan language books into foreign languages.
China has nearly two million books and historical documents in Tibetan, the largest collection of its kind in the world. More than 40,000 books and documents from all over China have so far been registered in the new database covering several fields, including history, law, literature, medicine and astronomy.
