Vancouver Central Public Library Receives Huge Donations to Modernize Children’s Section

by | Nov 3, 2018 | News

The Vancouver Central Public Library, one of the most important libraries in Canada, has received a donation of five million Canadian dollars from the Delaware group, the largest car dealers in Canada. The donation aims at improving, developing and expanding the 280-square-meter children’s section at the Library.

Children under the age of 12 make up one-third of the library’s visitors in the region where about 2.5 million people live. The donation will be used to allocate audiovisual spaces for children with autism and to develop support programs for parents to motivate their children to read.

Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson announced that the main interior lobby of the library will be named the “Delaware Square” to commemorate the Delaware family, who made the donation. Robertson said this will encourage more companies to fulfill their corporate social responsibility and support cultural and community movement in Vancouver.
