The 2nd Emirati Libraries Forum Kicks Off

by | Jan 12, 2026 | News

Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), the Emirates Library and Information Association will hold the “Second Emirati Libraries Forum” under the theme “The Library Between Artificial Intelligence and the Humanity of Knowledge.” The event will take place at the Sharjah Book Authority headquarters on 12 and 13 January.

The forum aims to highlight the renewed role of libraries in promoting culture and knowledge, explore new horizons in digital transformation and creativity, and discuss the balance between modern technologies, chiefly artificial intelligence, and the human values associated with the production and dissemination of knowledge.

The forum will host a distinguished group of local and international experts and specialists in libraries and information. The programme includes a variety of panel discussions and workshops focusing on the latest practices and global trends in library development and the role of libraries in supporting knowledge-based communities.

Fahad Ali Al Maamari, Chairman of the Emirates Library and Information Association, emphasised that the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi represents significant support for the library and information sector and reflects Sharjah’s commitment to establishing itself as a global centre for culture and knowledge.

Al Maamari said: “Organising the Second Emirati Libraries Forum affirms the association’s commitment to supporting the library sector and enhancing its position as a key driver of knowledge and culture amid the rapid changes in the digital world. Through this forum, we aim to open new horizons for professional dialogue, exchange experiences, and build future visions that balance artificial intelligence with the humanity of knowledge, serving society and promoting the sustainability of knowledge”.
