Tatsunoko Enters Publishing with TEEM BOOK

by | Jul 15, 2025 | News

Tatsunoko Production, the legendary Japanese animation studio, has officially launched a new publishing imprint called TEEM BOOK, built on the pillars of universality, contemporaneity, and originality.

Founded in 1962, Tatsunoko is known worldwide for its iconic anime series such as Mach GoGoGo (Speed Racer), Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, and the Time Bokan series. With its long-standing motto “Bringing dreams to children around the world,” the studio has become a hallmark of imaginative storytelling.

With TEEM BOOK, Tatsunoko is expanding its creative reach by developing new original manga titles and intellectual properties, leveraging its decades of expertise in planning and narrative design. The imprint’s name “TEEM” is an acronym for Tatsunoko Entertains Everyone More, a reflection of the studio’s mission to reach wider audiences with bold new stories.

The label’s debut title is an original manga series titled Servant Hero, a collaborative project between Tatsunoko Production and TEEM BOOK, with editorial oversight by Bookmark Japan.

Set in a world where mutants, referred to as Variants, are forced to wear collars that suppress their supernatural abilities, the story introduces a government-sanctioned task force known as the Variant Suppression Unit (VS Unit). Members of this elite group are granted limited permission to use their powers in the service of the state.

Servant Hero features illustrations by Sho Takahashi, based on an original concept by Suzuki. The story structure is developed by Onozuka, who also co-wrote the script alongside Yamadori. The project’s overall planning and creative direction were led by Marie Matsunaga.

With the launch of TEEM BOOK, Tatsunoko is opening a new creative chapter, bridging the worlds of animation and publishing. By embracing bold narratives and visually dynamic storytelling, the studio aims to captivate a new generation of readers, while staying true to its legacy of inspiring dreams through powerful stories.
