Sultan Al Qasimi orders AED 4 million for public libraries

by | May 3, 2017 | News

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered a grant of AED 4 million for public libraries in Sharjah to enable them to enhance their cultural and knowledge content. Forming part of His Highness’s vision to promote reading and support books, the donation will be used by the libraries to attain the latest titles and books from publishing houses participating at SIBF 2016.

HH’s initiative comes as part of his efforts to promote his book-based cultural project and inculcate reading in younger generations. Public libraries in Sharjah are one of the key actors in the cultural movement in the UAE, as they provide invaluable literary services to researchers, writers and members of the general public.
