Shanghai Children’s Book Fair 2025: Largest Edition to Date

by | Sep 18, 2025 | News

The 12th edition of the China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (CCBF) is set to run from November 14 to 16, 2025, at the Shanghai World Exhibition and Convention Center (SWEECC). The fair expects more than 500 exhibitors from at least 35 countries, surpassing last year’s total of 497. Organizers also anticipate a significant rise in attendance, with over 50,000 visitors projected this year compared to 41,263 in 2024, including more than 17,000 publishing professionals.

Positioning itself as a bridge between Eastern and Western children’s publishing, CCBF continues to promote Chinese original titles while showcasing new voices from China and the Asia-Pacific region. The event is known for drawing agents, rights directors, publishers, illustrators, booksellers, and cross-media professionals who see Shanghai as a major hub for translation rights and global industry networking.

For 2025, the fair will feature two dedicated areas: a Copyright Zone, reserved for rights-trading and professional meetings, and a Hybrid Zone, focused on marketing, retail development, distribution, and promotion. National stands will represent countries including Belgium, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, Norway, Poland, Russia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.

Adding to the professional appeal, this year introduces new thematic spaces. A “Cross Media Lounge” will highlight projects from South Korea, Switzerland, Colombia, and Germany, while the “BOP Lounge” will feature publishers recognized by international awards, including Andersen Press (UK) and Enchanted Lion Books (USA). The “Asia-Pacific New Entry Lounge” brings together fresh talent from Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan. Another key highlight is the “Spotlight on New Books,” designed to drive rights trading through book launches, author signings, and showcases of the latest children’s titles.
