Palestine Reads… New Book Fair Attracts Huge Audience

by | Oct 30, 2017 | News

Al Bireh Municipality in Palestine has inaugurated a new book fair at the Bireh Cultural Centre. Launched in October in collaboration with Asfoor for Publishing and Distribution and held under the theme ‘Palestine Reads,’ the 11-day fair features the participation of a large number of Palestinian publishers, book stores and libraries for the first time in the city, where a significant number of Palestinians go to every day for school and for work.

The Al Bireh book fair features a large collection of new titles by Arab and international publishing houses, with discounted prices and special offers available, such as ‘buy two get one free.’ There is also 50 per cent off for institutions, schools and public and university libraries.

The fair saw a considerable footfall of visitors on its first day, especially in the evening. Arabic books, translated novels and award-winning titles constituted the largest portion of sales at the event, followed by books on human development, politics, history, biography and children’s books.
