“My Book is Your Book” initiative collected 2200 books in 7 days

During its first phase, the “My Book is Your Book” initiative launched by Union Coop in Dubai, UAE was successful in collecting more than 2243 books within one week.

During the initiative, dedicated donation boxes were set up in four malls associated with the Cooperative to collect books, which were highly appreciated and interacted with by shoppers and visitors to malls, according to Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness & Marketing Department at Union Coop.

He continued: “The initiative is part of the cooperative’s commitment to its social responsibilities towards the less fortunate groups who love to read and aims to collect new and used books and deliver them to book lovers and reading enthusiasts from the less fortunate groups in society through the Juma AI-Majid Center for Culture and Heritage.”

Within just one week, the initiative collected more than 2243 books from a variety of titles and genres in its first phase.

The Union Coop delivered the first batch of books collected within the ‘My Book is Your Book’ initiative to Juma AI-Majid Center for Culture and Heritage, where Dr. Mohammed Kamel Gaad, General Manager of the center, received the cooperative employees. In his remarks, Dr. Gaad noted that the collected new and used books will be delivered to readers who cannot buy books, either outside or inside the country, after they are organized, with the distinguished books on display at the center and the damaged ones to be repaired.
