According to the annual report released by the King Abdul Aziz Al Saud Foundation in Casablanca, which monitors the situation of the book market and publishing industry in Morocco, some 2,937 books were released by Moroccan publishing houses and cultural institutions in 2016 and 2017. The publications include 2,405 books in Arabic, accounting for 81.88% of the total books printed.

The report shows that the ‘Arabisation’ of Morocco’s publishing movement has seen a rapid growth in recent years, where the Arabic literary work occupied the first place among these publications, constituting 24.17%, followed by legal publications that account for 14.61%. The report also demonstrates that 25% of the titles were published at the expense of their authors.
