Despite Egypt’s early exit from the group stages of the Russia 2018 World Cup, renowned Italian sports journalist and author Luca Caioli is to release a book about Mohamed Salah, the star of the Egyptian national team, English Premier League Player of the Season and Liverpool’s top scorer.

Caioli is an internationally acclaimed football biographer and the bestselling author of books on Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Torres and Suarez.

As part of his extensive research, the Italian author visited Nagrig, Salah’s home village in Egypt’s Western Province, deep in the Nile Delta region. He interviewed friends and family who told him of Salah’s life throughout his childhood and adolescence before he shot to fame as one of the world’s most recognised sporting heroes. Salah played at the Arab Contractors Club before he joined Chelsea, Roma and finally Liverpool.
