Scholastic announced that it is publishing Suzanne Collins’ new Hunger Games prequel novel, currently untitled, which will hit shelves on May 19, 2020.
The new story takes places during the “Dark Days” following the war and failed rebellion in the dystopian world of Panem, 64 years before we meet our beloved characters.
“With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival,” author Suzanne Collins said in a press release. “The reconstruction period 10 years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days — as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet — provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity”.
Since the first book’s release in 2008, The Hunger Games, each of the novels has sold over 100 million copies and have been translated into over 50 languages.
