Frankfurt Book Fair 2025 Highlights Global Innovation

by | Oct 13, 2025 | News

The Frankfurt Book Fair 2025, the world’s oldest and largest gathering dedicated to the publishing industry, is set to open its doors on October 15, 2025, bringing together writers, publishers, and thinkers from across the globe. Over the course of five days (October 15–19), the city of Frankfurt will transform into a true capital of the written word, where industry professionals and readers will meet to discuss the future of literature, copyright, and the challenges of the digital age, in what promises to be one of the most dynamic and forward-looking editions in the fair’s 70-year history.

This year’s Guest of Honour is the Republic of the Philippines, participating under the theme “The imagination peoples the air.” The country’s rich cultural program will highlight the depth of its literary heritage, linguistic diversity, and vibrant arts scene through exhibitions, poetry readings, and dialogues with leading contemporary authors. The choice reflects the fair’s ongoing mission to foster intercultural dialogue and showcase emerging literary voices from Asia and beyond. With participants from more than 120 countries and over 2,000 publishing houses, Frankfurt once again positions itself as a global hub for publishing innovation and exchange.

The 2025 edition will also shine a spotlight on technology and artificial intelligence, with dedicated sessions exploring how innovation can enhance creativity while safeguarding intellectual property. Panels will tackle topics such as audiobooks, interactive storytelling, and new reading formats, alongside professional conferences on children’s publishing and workshops focused on translation and distribution, all underscoring a rapidly evolving publishing landscape shaped by digital transformation.

This year’s fair reaffirms Frankfurt’s enduring role as a crossroads where ideas meet art, and tradition meets modernity, a reminder that books remain vital instruments for human dialogue and mutual understanding. Amid the fair’s bustling halls, new partnerships will be forged, contracts signed, and groundbreaking ideas born, as the city once again stands as a living symbol of knowledge, creativity, and the timeless power of the written word to change the world.
