Tout le monde voulait \u00eatre pris en photo avec cet auteur discret, pour la premi\u00e8re fois en visite dans le Golfe.<\/p>\n

Il a assist\u00e9 \u00e0 la session sur la d\u00e9colonisation et l\u2019influence grandissante des auteurs africains, lors de laquelle il a entendu une homologue \u00e9crivaine Lola Shoneyin, du Nig\u00e9ria, attaquer les \u00e9diteurs occidentaux\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Je suis \u00e9galement \u00e9diteur au Nig\u00e9ria. Quand un livre africain est publi\u00e9 en occident, il est particuli\u00e8rement difficile d\u2019acheter les droits pour une \u00e9dition africaine. Les \u00e9diteurs britanniques sont en particulier coupables.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Les \u00e9diteurs occidentaux consid\u00e8rent qu\u2019il est \u00e9thique de refuser les droits aux \u00e9diteurs africains. Il est n\u00e9cessaire d\u2019\u00e9tudier cette dynamique des pouvoirs. Ils devraient c\u00e9der ces droits. Nous ne voulons que la situation soit la m\u00eame que pour les Bronzes du B\u00e9nin, que nous serons oblig\u00e9s d\u2019aller chercher.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

Je vends tout, des plus gros titres, comme les titres marketing de Philip Kotlger, \u00e0 un obscur livre des ann\u00e9es 90 sur les sciences sociales, que je viens de vendre \u00e0 un \u00e9diteur syrien.
