D\u00e8s les premi\u00e8res pages, le r\u00e9cit s\u2019ancre dans une d\u00e9cision fondatrice lorsque la m\u00e8re de Sara, enceinte de huit mois, choisit de retourner au Kowe\u00eft afin que sa fille naisse sur la terre de ses anc\u00eatres. Ce choix inaugure une trajectoire marqu\u00e9e par le d\u00e9placement, l\u2019attachement \u00e0 l\u2019origine et la qu\u00eate d\u2019appartenance. Lulwa, issue d\u2019un milieu modeste, suit son \u00e9poux en Inde avant de retourner au Kowe\u00eft, tandis que Yasmine renonce \u00e0 ses aspirations personnelles sous l\u2019effet de pressions familiales et conjugales. La figure de Noura, m\u00e8re de Sara, prolonge cette dynamique en articulant aspiration individuelle et devoir familial.
