Son action s\u2019inscrivit dans un projet politique visant \u00e0 affirmer les Arabes comme acteurs autonomes et non comme p\u00e9riph\u00e9rie soumise \u00e0 un centre imp\u00e9rial. Par cette initiative, elle red\u00e9finit les rapports entre communaut\u00e9s arabes et autorit\u00e9s politiques et religieuses de son temps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L\u2019ouvrage Reines et proph\u00e8tes : comment des femmes nobles d\u2019Arabie et des hommes saints ont fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 le paganisme, le christianisme et l\u2019islam, de l\u2019historien Imran Iqbal El-Badawi, propose une lecture analytique de son parcours dans un cadre plus large consacr\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9 tardive arabe. L\u2019auteur pr\u00e9sente Mavia comme une actrice historique \u00e0 part enti\u00e8re et non comme une exception li\u00e9e \u00e0 son genre. Il souligne qu\u2019elle mobilisa la religion comme instrument de n\u00e9gociation politique. Son exigence de voir nomm\u00e9 un \u00e9v\u00eaque arabe pour son peuple r\u00e9v\u00e8le une conscience aigu\u00eb du r\u00f4le de la l\u00e9gitimit\u00e9 religieuse dans la consolidation du pouvoir. Les sources anciennes, notamment les \u00e9crits de Rufin d\u2019Aquil\u00e9e, qui s\u2019appuient sur des textes ant\u00e9rieurs aujourd\u2019hui perdus, ont transmis son image \u00e0 travers un prisme romain qui l\u2019a progressivement d\u00e9finie comme chr\u00e9tienne romaine. L\u2019\u00e9tude rappelle toutefois son identit\u00e9 arabe et estime qu\u2019elle fut vraisemblablement pa\u00efenne dans sa jeunesse avant d\u2019int\u00e9grer le christianisme dans une strat\u00e9gie de gouvernement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cette relecture inscrit Mavia parmi les grandes figures f\u00e9minines de l\u2019histoire arabe antique, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de Z\u00e9nobie. Elle contredit les r\u00e9cits qui rel\u00e9guaient les femmes \u00e0 la marge et met en lumi\u00e8re un mod\u00e8le de leadership fond\u00e9 sur la force militaire, l\u2019intelligence politique et la capacit\u00e9 d\u2019imposer des conditions \u00e0 une puissance imp\u00e9riale. L\u2019ouvrage de Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, Qu\u2019ils sachent qu\u2019elle est l\u00e0, interroge la figure de la reine absente et explore la mani\u00e8re dont certaines pr\u00e9sences f\u00e9minines ont disparu des r\u00e9cits \u00e9crits sans dispara\u00eetre de la m\u00e9moire collective.
