Destin\u00e9 \u00e0 r\u00e9compenser la meilleure \u0153uvre de fiction pour les lecteurs de 8 \u00e0 12 ans, ce prix introduit une nouveaut\u00e9 significative : pour la premi\u00e8re fois, un jury compos\u00e9 \u00e0 la fois d\u2019adultes et d\u2019enfants d\u00e9terminera le laur\u00e9at. L\u2019auteur britannique Frank Cottrell-Boyce, actuellement laur\u00e9at national pour la litt\u00e9rature jeunesse au Royaume-Uni, pr\u00e9sidera le jury inaugural, accompagn\u00e9 de deux adultes et de trois enfants s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019automne 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition couvrira les ouvrages publi\u00e9s entre le 1\u1d49\u02b3 novembre 2025 et le 31 octobre 2026, avec une annonce du laur\u00e9at pr\u00e9vue en f\u00e9vrier 2027 lors d\u2019un \u00e9v\u00e9nement d\u00e9di\u00e9 au jeune public. Chaque ann\u00e9e, 30 000 exemplaires des titres s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s ou r\u00e9compens\u00e9s seront offerts \u00e0 des enfants, en partenariat avec plusieurs organisations \u0153uvrant pour la lecture : le Fonds national pour l\u2019alphab\u00e9tisation, l\u2019Agence de la lecture, les Banques de livres et le Projet du livre pour enfants. Ce programme intervient dans un contexte pr\u00e9occupant o\u00f9 le plaisir de lire chez les jeunes conna\u00eet une forte baisse, selon les derni\u00e8res \u00e9tudes nationales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le prix distinguera la fiction contemporaine jeunesse \u00e9crite en anglais ou traduite vers l\u2019anglais et publi\u00e9e au Royaume-Uni ou en Irlande. Les finalistes recevront chacun 2 500 livres sterling, et le laur\u00e9at 50 000. L\u2019annonce a re\u00e7u un large soutien de figures majeures de la litt\u00e9rature jeunesse telles que Malorie Blackman, Jacqueline Wilson, Michael Morpurgo ou encore Joseph Coelho, qui voient dans cette initiative une reconnaissance \u00e9quivalente \u00e0 celle accord\u00e9e \u00e0 la litt\u00e9rature pour adultes.
