Natasha Pulley, qui avait remport\u00e9 le prix Betty Trask au Royaume-Uni pour son premier roman \u00ab\u00a0The Watchmaker of Filigree Street\u00a0\u00bb, s’\u00e9tait trouv\u00e9e dans un profond d\u00e9sarroi face au silence des \u00e9diteurs britanniques concernant \u00ab\u00a0The Mars House\u00a0\u00bb. Presque r\u00e9sign\u00e9e \u00e0 l’absence de perspective de publication au Royaume-Uni, elle avait tweet\u00e9:<\/span><\/p>\n

Moi: Alors, euh, j’ai \u00e9crit un livre de science-fiction, et j’en suis tr\u00e8s fi\u00e8re. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 achet\u00e9 aux \u00c9tats-Unis, et je sais que la science-fiction est un genre difficile \u00e0 vendre, mais peut-\u00eatre…? Gillian Redfearn a d\u00e9clar\u00e9: \u00ab\u00a0Pulley poss\u00e8de le don de percer \u00e0 travers les personnages et les situations, et de cr\u00e9er des histoires qui parlent de mani\u00e8re simple et puissante. \u00ab\u00a0Quand j’ai \u00e9crit ‘The Mars House’, j’\u00e9tais convaincue qu’il \u00e9tait invendable. Lorsque l’\u00e9quipe de Gollancz a dit qu’ils le voulaient non seulement, mais que c’\u00e9tait peut-\u00eatre m\u00eame une id\u00e9e d\u00e9cente, je n’en croyais pas mes oreilles. Je m’attendais toujours \u00e0 ce que quelqu’un surgisse d’une haie et me crie : ‘Haha, juste pour rire, bien s\u00fbr, c’est idiot et tu n’as plus le droit d’\u00eatre \u00e9crivain !’ Heureusement, tout le monde a \u00e9t\u00e9 formidable et n’a pas saut\u00e9 hors des haies. Cependant, je reste vigilant pr\u00e8s des topiaires.\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n
