Enki Foundation for Studies and Research is an independent Iraqi cultural institution dedicated to scientific research and the development of the humanities. The name it has chosen as its title carries symbolic significance, alluding to the rich meanings, scientific, intellectual, and aesthetic connotations embedded in the civilization of Mesopotamia. It is well known that the Sumerian civilization, which thrived in the land of Iraq, symbolizes the dawn of human civilization, the cradle of its first alphabet. The name « Enki » refers to the Sumerian god of wisdom, representing knowledge and science. Thus, it encapsulates two profound meanings: the alphabet, which forms the essence of the pen, and wisdom, as the hallmark of knowledge and the compass of humanity.
Enki Foundation for Studies and Research aims to activate intellectual and cultural movements and invigorate creative endeavors in Iraq and the Arab world. In pursuing this goal, it operates with a mission-driven perspective, without seeking commercial profit. Its ultimate objective is to contribute effectively to building a new and innovative Iraqi and Arab consciousness amidst the tumultuous waves stirred by the information media and the communications revolution.
