Dubai Municipality Inaugurates its Park Libraries Initiative

by | Jul 10, 2017 | News

In line with its mission to promote reading as a noble habit in the community, Dubai Municipality has inaugurated Al Garhoud Park Library, located near Dubai International Airport, as its first-of-its-kind ‘Park Libraries’ initiative. The new facility aims to instil a love of knowledge acquisition in the general public and to encourage people to read in public parks.

Holding more than 70 titles in English and Arabic across genres, which will be replaced according to readers’ needs and aspirations, the library includes a box that allows members of the community to donate books for the benefit of the community. The new establishment will also host art, cultural and educational programmes and events.

Dubai Municipality will inaugurate more Park Libraries at Dubai’s public parks over the coming months and years to help instil a love of reading in society and to encourage the engagement of books in public places, especially at parks, which attract hundreds of thousands of visitors throughout the year.
