Corona Forces Shanghai Children’s Book Fair to Move for Fourth Time

Coronavirus continues to play havoc with book industry conventions in parts of the globe.  The latest victim is the ninth Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (CCBF) which has been postponed for the fourth time and forced to change venue.

Organisers apologised and said they had to change dates and venue “to better coordinate with epidemic control measures in Shanghai”.  Originally due to take place at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Centre in November 2021, it will now take place from 2-4 December at the West Bund Art Centre which is located in the core of the “West Bund Cultural Corridor” in the waterfront area of Xuhui District, Shanghai.

The organisers say: “This is a place where writers of children’s books, book producers, fans of books, and scholars from all over the world will assemble. Here, they can brainstorm and think up more excellent and spectacular content for children’s books. With a wider audience at the West Bund of Shanghai, this fair aims to ultimately influence thousands of children.”

They add: “The organising team will do all it can to address subsequent issues arising from the recent development to provide quality service and to ensure the interests, and meet the needs, of our exhibitors and visitors. This will lay a more solid foundation for building the brand and influence of CCBF, a grand cultural and artistic event in Shanghai”
