Cassandra Clare reveals secrets of writing at Sharjah International Book Fair

by | May 3, 2017 | News

Famous American author Cassandra Clare gave tips and advice to new writers on how they can ensure the continuity of writing and authorship during her session titled ‘The Phenomenon of Fiction Books,’ which was an extremely popular presentation under SIBF 2016’s Cultural Activities programme.

Addressing a huge audience of readers and writers at the session, Clare said: “It is enough for the author to write between 100–200 words a day – certainly the writer will finish their book in the end. No doubt they can improve their skills every time he or she writes and reviews their texts.”

Clare explained that when writing a novel she stops the moment she feels that her mind is no longer able to keep it up, saying: “In this case, I prefer to pause for a while and do other things. Sometimes I write a short story to help my mind to reconnect with the novel that I am writing.”

Clare is regarded one of the most prominent current fiction writers, with her fantasy works inspired by actual events and real places. Her young adult fiction series ‘The Mortal Instruments’ was a New York Times best-seller.
