Bob Dylan’s Publisher Released an Apology

Publisher apologizes for replica autographs of Bob Dylan

The publisher of Bob Dylan’s new book, The Philosophy of Modern Song, is offering refunds for a US $600 special edition, acknowledging that the copies were not individually signed.

In an Instagram post, Simon & Schuster apologized to those who bought the limited-edition Philosophy of Modern Song.

“As it turns out, the limited-edition books do contain Bob’s original signature, but in a penned replica form. We are addressing this immediately by providing each purchaser with an immediate refund.”

After days of complaints from customers, Simon & Schuster issued a statement after they compared their autographs on social media and found them suspiciously similar. A letter from Simon & Schuster chief executive Jonathan Karp attested to the authenticity of the signature.

Karp assures readers that their copy is “very special” and “one of just 900 copies available in the US” that are signed.
