Publishing Perspectives has announced the appointment of Andrew Richard Albanese as its new editor-in-chief, marking a significant moment in the platform’s editorial journey. Albanese succeeds the late Porter Anderson, whose work helped shape the publication’s global voice and established its reputation as a trusted source for international publishing professionals.
A veteran publishing reporter, Albanese is widely respected for his in-depth reporting on some of the industry’s most consequential issues. His work has explored eBook price fixing, copyright and intellectual property protection, the open access movement, the rise of book bans, and the growing influence of politics on both the US and global book markets. Over decades, he has consistently offered thoughtful, analytical coverage that bridges publishing, policy, and culture.
Commenting on his new role, Albanese said he is honored to join Publishing Perspectives and eager to return to the international publishing stage. Drawing on more than 30 years of experience, including a decade overseeing show dailies for Publishers Weekly at the Frankfurt and London book fairs, he emphasized his commitment to showcasing a wide range of global perspectives. Albanese also paid tribute to Porter Anderson’s legacy, pledging to carry forward the platform’s founding mission: to provide publishing professionals worldwide with insight, resources, and foresight as the industry navigates the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
