ADIBF Extends to 10 Days in 2025

by | Aug 22, 2024 | News

The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) has announced that the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) will be extended to 10 days, beginning with its 34th edition from April 26th to May 5th, 2025.

This extension is part of a broader initiative to foster innovation in publishing and deepen cultural exchange. The longer duration will offer more opportunities for local and Arab authors to engage with international publishers, promoting the establishment of industry standards.

Additionally, the fair’s infrastructure will undergo significant upgrades to enhance the experience for both exhibitors and visitors, including expanded educational programs.

The decision to extend the fair follows a comprehensive study conducted by the ALC, which focused on strategic objectives aimed at increasing visitor numbers and boosting sales. A survey conducted in 2024 revealed that the majority of visitors and exhibitors supported a longer fair, seeing it as a vital platform for promoting Arabic language and cultural productions.

The extension also aligns with regional exhibition norms, where similar events typically run for 10 to 12 days.

This move is expected to strengthen professional interactions within the publishing and creative industries, further solidifying Abu Dhabi’s position as a key hub for Arabic publishing.

By extending the fair, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre aims to facilitate greater cultural engagement between authors and the public, offering a wider array of cultural events, including seminars, book signings, and workshops.

Moreover, the extension is designed to accommodate students and employees who may find it difficult to attend during weekdays, and to enhance cultural tourism by attracting visitors with an interest in books and culture, thereby reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s status as a premier cultural and tourist destination.
