Book and Bed Hostels…New project attracts bookworms in Japan

by | May 3, 2017 | News

Tokyo’s Book and Bed Hostel has recently launched a new branch in Kyoto as a response to the increasing demand for rooms in the original ‘accommodation bookshop’. Equipped with a reading light and a mattress each, the 30 bedrooms are tucked behind the floor-to-ceiling shelves, which house 3200 books in Japanese, English and Korean languages.

Shared lounges line the walls of the hostel, while guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi and use the showers and bathrooms at their own convenience. Since its launch, the Tokyo hostel has triggered a reading sensation as locals, tourists and visitors regularly stay while on holiday and business trips.

In the Book and Bed Hostel, bookworms can stay for several nights, a few hours or simply spend time during the day in the book-packed corners with just a pillow and a paperback.
