$21,000 Prize Pool for Children’s Illustration

The Sharjah Children’s Book Illustration Award, organized by the Sharjah Book Authority, has opened registration for its 12th edition. This prestigious award aims to acknowledge and celebrate authors and creatives who have made significant contributions to the field of children’s literature. The winners will be announced during the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) in May. If you are interested in submitting your work, you can do so at https://scrf.ae until March 15.

Khoula Al Mujaini, the General Coordinator of SCRF, highlighted the crucial role that innovative and creative illustrations play in the success of children’s books. These illustrations enrich the lives of young readers and contribute to the development of their skills, abilities, and talents, fostering an appreciation for beauty, art, and creativity.

The award has a history of discovering talented artists and titles that have elevated children’s books into works of art, resulting in their own exhibitions. SCRF supports this effort by organizing a special exhibition for children’s book illustrations during which the works of winners and participants are showcased. This provides a valuable opportunity for the public to interact with artists and creatives.

The total prize pool for the award amounts to US $21,000. The first-place winner will receive $8,000, the second-place winner $6,000, and the third-place winner $4,000. Additionally, there are three encouragement prizes, each valued at $1,000. This generous prize structure aims to recognize and motivate outstanding talent in the field of children’s book illustration.
