Representatives from 54 countries attended the 32nd International Book Fair (FILH) in Cuba, where the festival showcased concerts, film screenings, exhibitions, and meetings with writers and book publishers from 45 countries. The event honoured the philosopher and researcher Isabel Monal, recipient of Cuba’s National Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities, along with Cuban writer and art professor Francisco Lopez Sacha.

Colloquia, conferences, and seminars on various topics were featured during the fair, which presented booths representing all facets of the book publishing process, including writers, translators, illustrators, editors, designers, and librarians.

Brazil was highlighted as the guest of honour at this edition of the Havana Book Fair, with a delegation led by Minister of Culture Margaret Menezes.

Reflecting on the significance of the fair, Cuban novelist and poet Frank Padrón noted that despite material shortages and paper scarcities in Cuba, the fair managed to provide a plethora of printed books. He emphasized that this reflects the enduring passion for reading among Cubans, serving as a means to preserve a cultural legacy for future generations.
